Amazing engineering

The BFM took his two wee girls to go see the Titanic Pump House alongside the graving Dock.

What amazed me was the sheer scale and quality of the engineering. Over 100 years ago the pumps emptied the graving dock of 21 million gallons or
184 million pints of sea water in 100 minutes. Wow,what a feat!!!
Makes you proud to be from Northern Ireland.

A must see place!! The BFM

Great way to see Belfast

The BFM wanted to share the sights and history of greater Belfast with the youngsters from the Youth Club.

So I chose the Belfast Sight Seeing Tour, the red double decker hop on and off buses. I’ve tried them all over the world and thoroughly recommend them.

The tour lasts 90 minutes and I would say do one complete circuit so you get your bearings, then start getting off at the stops you want to explore in depth.

Happy trekking and learning and enjoy. BFM

Mind blowing Titanic Segway Blast

This must be the most favourite attraction of the BFM in Belfast
The Titanic Segway Tour

I bought a voucher for £20 instead if full price of £30. The tour lasted 90 minutes and the guide was fantastic. I was the only member on the tour so I guess was a bit spoilt. It was great fun riding the Segway and the guide knew his history. So a fantastic way to get out and about the Titanic quarter and learn the history and have a fantastic blast. The BFM loves it!!!

They loved it, I loved it. The amount of history was amazing. The tour lasted 1 hour 15 mins and the time flew. It was packed with facts and figures like it opened in 1846 and closed 1996. We also got to go in the tunnel under the Crumlin Road.

The venue also doubles up as a conference centre and concert venue. So the BFM gives it a big thumbs up!!!!

Steamy Steamboat

The BFM was out with a gr8 m8 from Sheffield last night and ended up in the Steamboat.

The restaurant is advertised as an Oriental BBQ. I would have to describe it as an Oriental Hot plate/Hot pot venue. So let’s explore. The signature dish is the hot pot with hot plate. This is basically a hot ceramic plate on which a soup is boiled (there are different soup bases,we chose the Tom yam) in a metal dish. Then there is a heated metal grill/skillet which is recessed into the table. Both are run by electric and can be controlled by diner.

To start with the soups are placed on the hot plates and plates of beef and lamb slices are provided. The beef for my partner lamb for me. The idea is to either semi cook in soup then finish on grill or vice versa. So we obliged and tested the meat and soup and hot plates. So far so good. We then went to get some fresh meat/fish/vegetables and sauces, came back to table and again tried various cooking combos.

An hour later, a couple of beers later for my partner and after trying different permutations, combinations and having good banter with staff and diners from Scotland,we decided to call it a day. The Privelege cost each of us £16.88 each (apparently 8 is lucky in Chinese!!). For what we got and the experience definitely well worth it!!

Once again the BFM shares the food love!!! Ciao down now!!!
