Stormont please listen

Please NI government reconsider the cuts to the budget for arts and culture. You will kill NI off,no one will go out, spend money,it’s crazy. Just when we r getting back on our feet and being noticed globally. Why spend 5 million on a bridge, when culture arts and leisure would benefit more.BFM

Teppanyaki buffet in Lisburn

The BFM tried the Red Wok in Lisburn a couple of weeks ago and was very pleased with the food. The selection was enough to try each and every dish at lunch time.

It used to be Ginza and I must say it has matured very well. I had the buffet lunch including the Teppanyaki (chicken and squid). There was just enough of a variety to keep me satisfied. As I’ve said before too much food can spoil choices.

I would say if you get a chance check it out.

Once again the BFM shares the food love!!! Ciao for now

Fantastic Irish Restaurant

The BFM had heard lots of good reports about Bia Restaurant so decided to check it out.

216 Falls Road
Belfast

It is situated in the heart of the Gaeltacht area ie the heart of Irish spoken language in Belfast, or the Gaelic Quarter. The restaurant is housed in an old church building which also has a souvenir and Irish historical shop.

I had Mushroom risotto with garlic ciabatta (£7.95) which was a bit salty,so I asked for pepper sauce, which was basically a gravy and pepper!!!! Not very Irish. Why do so called Irish restaurants not serve traditional Irish food?
I guess the fact that the Menu is in Gaelic and English helps. It Opened in 2013. It’s a BYO AND Fridays are Fish days.

I would recommend it just for the experience and quite possibly on Fish Fridays.

Another fab recipe from Annaghmore mushrooms

The BFM loves Annaghmore Mushrooms!!! I made an awesome cream of mushroom and leek soup. I fried 1 chopped onion, 2 chopped cloves of garlic, one cut leak and a punnet of white mushrooms for about 10 mins in rapeseed oil of course,1 tablespoon.

Meanwhile I prepared 2 pints of vegetable stock. Then added it to the pot and boiled for a further 10 mins. After that I blitzed the mixture into a smooth runny paste. At this stage I seasoned with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of crushed black pepper. Then I added 250ml of cream, made some toast with plenty of butter. Then gobbled it all up. The taste of mushrooms was evident in every spoonful!!!

See previous blogs on Annaghmore mushrooms for details.
