The Crowns Fish and Chips

Had a nice lunch at The Crown in Belfast today. A reasonable sized dish served on a big oval bowl type plate. Superb surroundings and craic was plenty from the bar man!!!
The fish was a tad too firm, the batter very very crispy, chips great, tartare sauce had perfect tartness but the mushy peas let the fish down.
I felt for £11.95 its worth it, but would like to see a few more chips!!

A bit pricey for fish and chips – don’t you think? But then I haven’t been in Belfast since 1990.Had some F&C delivered to the house the other day fot 50p. Had some in a local restaurant (with mushy peas) for l12. The 50p meal was nicer! By the way, when I lived in NI we associated mushy peas with the North of England, and jokes on radio and TV. Have they become a gourmet item? Best wishes from NZ. Des.
Like your articles – they keep me in touch with the old place – but I couldn’t coppe with the weather!
